High-Quality Steel for Home Appliances

The materials used for home appliance casings and inner liners directly impact the finished product’s appearance and service life. Compared to ordinary coated steel sheets, steel for home appliances must meet stricter requirements regarding surface flatness, bendability, corrosion resistance, and color retention. Refrigerator door panels, washing machine casings, air conditioner housings, and kitchen and bathroom inner liners all rely on high-performance specialty steel.

Wanzhi Steel offers a comprehensive product portfolio for home appliance materials, specializing in three core categories: color-coated steel sheets, laminated steel, and stainless steel. We provide a one-stop solution to meet the manufacturing needs of all home appliance categories, including refrigerators, washing machines, residential air conditioners, built-in kitchen appliances, and dishwashers.

We can match home appliance manufacturers with the most suitable steel materials by considering their product positioning, aesthetic finish requirements, stamping processes, production costs, and project budgets.

For home appliance casings, priority is given to pre-painted steel coils designed specifically for appliances (such as RAL 9003, RAL 7024, etc.), laminated steel, and textured color-coated steel coils. The specific metal materials used vary depending on the type of appliance.

  • Refrigerator door panels prioritize aesthetic appeal and often use laminated film-coated steel; refrigerator side panels and bodies use PCM color-coated steel, which offers better value for money;
  • Washing machine bodies are constantly exposed to a humid environment, so moisture-resistant and corrosion-resistant PCM/laminated film-coated steel is selected;
  • Air conditioner indoor units prioritize antimicrobial and easy-to-clean materials (such as antibacterial color coated steel), while outdoor units use weather-resistant and UV-resistant PPGL galvanized color-coated steel, capable of withstanding prolonged exposure to outdoor wind, rain, and intense heat.

Laminated steel achieves three-dimensional textures such as wood grain, stone grain, brushed, and pearlescent finishes by bonding PET/PVC/PETG decorative films. It is wear-resistant, scratch-resistant, and high-end, making it suitable for the facades of high-end refrigerators, wine cabinets, and display cabinets.

PCM is pre-painted steel produced via continuous coil coating. Its surface features solid-color matte, orange peel, or high-gloss finishes. With stable coatings and high cost-effectiveness, it is commonly used for non-critical decorative surfaces such as appliance side panels and bodies.

  • 304 food-grade stainless steel is the standard choice for home appliances. It is corrosion-resistant, easy to clean, and meets food contact standards, making it suitable for common applications such as refrigerator shelves, washing machine drums, and microwave oven interiors.
  • 316 stainless steel offers superior resistance to acids, alkalis, high temperatures, and high humidity. It is specifically designed for environments with heavy grease and high corrosion, such as range hoods, dishwashers, and high-temperature kitchen appliances.
  • 430 stainless steel offers high cost-effectiveness but has average rust resistance. It is primarily used for structural components in low-end home appliances and decorative parts that do not come into contact with food.

We support customization of color, pattern, texture, coil weight, and more. The minimum order quantity for standard-color PCM/galvanized steel coils is 10 tons, while the minimum order quantity for laminated steel sheets is 25 tons (due to the highly complex production process). A4-sized samples are provided free of charge.

Export orders are packed using export-grade fumigated wooden pallets or steel frames. The outer layer is wrapped in moisture-proof paper, and steel sheets are covered with protective film with corner guards added to withstand the high-humidity environment of ocean transport. Laminated and coated steel sheets are typically packaged in vertical stacks. Packaging standards and labeling can be customized according to customer requirements.

Application areas (we can recommend the most suitable steel), required material types (VCM/PCM/PPGI/PPGL/stainless steel), thickness and width, surface texture/color requirements, purchase quantity, processing needs (slitting/shearing/coating), delivery method, and destination. If you are unsure about the material, you can mail us a sample.
