    PPGL is an abbreviation for Pre-painted Galvalume Steel. PPGL steel strip is made by slitting PPGL steel coils into strips of a specific width using a slitting machine, which facilitates customers to perform deep processing such as stamping, bending, and welding.

    Substrate Composition and Coating Structure

    Substrate Composition

    The substrate for PPGL steel strips is hot-dip galvanized-aluminum steel coil (GL Coil), with a coating alloy composed of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon. This aluminum-zinc-silicon alloy coating combines the chemical passivation properties of aluminum with the sacrificial anode protection of zinc, providing a dual corrosion-resistant barrier for the steel substrate.

    Coating Structure

    PPGL steel strip features a multi-layer coating structure, arranged from outer to inner as follows: Topcoat → Primer (Primer) → Chemical pretreatment film → Aluminum-zinc alloy coating → Steel substrate → Aluminum-zinc alloy coating (back) → Pretreatment film → Primer (back) → Backcoat. We employ a “two-coat, two-bake” process, in which primer and topcoat are applied to both the front and back surfaces of the substrate and cured separately through baking.

    Applications of PPGL Steel Strips

    PPGL steel coils offer excellent corrosion resistance, good formability, rich decorative properties, and superior high-temperature resistance and heat-reflective performance. They are commonly used in the following fields:

    • Construction: Steel structural purlins, C/Z-shaped steel sections, roll-up doors, garage doors, photovoltaic mounting brackets, ventilation ducts, spiral ducts, etc.
    • Home Appliance Casing: Side panels/top panels/bases for outdoor air conditioner units; side panels/back panels/door frame trim for refrigerators; washing machine side panels; water heater casings, etc.
    • Shelving/Warehouse and Logistics Equipment: Supermarket shelf shelves, warehouse shelving beams, tool cabinets, and the casings and side panels of filing cabinets, etc.

    Selection Recommendations

    1. Operating Environment: For coastal areas and industrial pollution zones, we recommend using highly weather-resistant coatings (such as HDP or PVDF); for general inland environments, a polyester (PE) coating is sufficient to meet requirements.
    2. Corrosion Resistance Requirements: Aluminum-zinc coating weights ranging from AZ50 to AZ150 are available; the more severe the corrosive environment, the higher the coating weight recommended.
    3. Processing Methods: For deep drawing or complex forming operations, we recommend selecting soft or semi-hard base materials.
    4. Color and Appearance: Select RAL color codes according to architectural design requirements. Please confirm in advance if special textures or prints are required.
