What is “Spangle”
The “Spangle” on the surface of galvanized steel is that during the hot-dip galvanizing process, when the zinc liquid on the surface of the substrate cools, the zinc atoms are arranged in a hexagonal system (the crystal structure of zinc), extending outward from the crystal nucleus to form a pattern similar to snowflakes or polygons.
- What is Large “Spangle”: Large spangle usually refers to crystal particles with a diameter of ≥1.5mm.
- Conditions for the formation of Large “Spangle”: If the cooling rate is slow, the zinc atoms have enough time to arrange freely, and the crystals will grow larger, forming a clear snowflake pattern (i.e. “large zinc flower”).
