How Stainless Steel Achieves Fingerprint Resistance?

Fingerprint resistance is achieved by applying a dense inorganic-organic composite coating 1-10 micrometers (μm) thick onto the substrate. This organic composite coating completely seals microscopic pores on the substrate surface while imparting low surface energy (hydrophobic and oleophobic properties). This enables fingerprint-resistant stainless steel to deliver the following effects:

1. When fingers contact the surface: Oils and sweat in fingerprints struggle to spread and adhere due to the low surface energy, with most being “repelled” away.
2. When minor residues remain on the surface: These residues cannot penetrate the dense, smooth coating and instead float on the surface.
3. During cleaning: A gentle wipe with a soft cloth is sufficient to completely remove residues floating on the smooth surface, quickly restoring it to a pristine, mirror-like finish.
