309 Stainless Steel Characteristics
- High-temperature oxidation resistance: High chromium and nickel content forms a dense Cr₂O₃ oxide film, enabling continuous use at 980°C.
- Excellent corrosion resistance: Resistant to weak acids, sulfides, alkalis, salts, and other corrosive substances.
- Good weldability: The low-carbon version (309S) reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion after welding.
