How to Choose the Right Hot Rolled Deformed Bars
Different building types
- High-rise buildings have high strength requirements for hot-rolled rebars, and HRB500 is often used.
- Generally, if the seismic requirements for multi-story buildings are not high, HRB335 or HRB400 grade rebars can be selected.
Note: HRB500 means that the yield strength of hot-rolled rebar is not less than 500MPa.
Different structural parts
- If used as a building foundation, large diameter (20-32mm) hot-rolled rebars are required.
- 16 – 25mm rebars are commonly used for beams in buildings; the diameter of the steel bars required for column bearing is larger, generally 18-32mm.
- As a floor slab, the strength requirement is lower than that of beams and columns, and 8-14mm smaller diameter rebars are often used.
